Helping Your Child The most important thing you can do for your child is to GET INVOLVED! Start learning about seizures and what causes them, start questioning tests and diagnoses, and be relentless and persistent in your search for answers. Whether the doctors have found a cause for your child's seizures or not, there are several things that you can begin doing. Start a Journal - Of all the organs in the human body, the brain is by far the most complex and the least understood. To help with the diagnosis, it is helpful to start a journal and begin tracking food, activities, places visited, etc. Click on the link for more details. Sleep! - Being tired is a definite trigger for seizures. It is crucial that your child gets plenty of quality sleep. Click on the link for more information. Eat Healthier! - This is probably one of the most difficult things to do. Children like "kid" food and the further the food is from its original source and the more artificially colored, the more they are going to like it. In this section, do the best you can and make small changes gradually... you'll have better results. If your child is older, you can explain the importance of healthier eating, but still expect some resistance. Click on the link for suggestions.
